Aside from the identical process technology, Intel has also retained the same Gen 9 Intel UHD Graphics from previous generation Whiskey Lake for Comet Lake. As per usual, these new mobile processors have also been divided into the mainstream U-series and low-power Y-series as shown below:
Through its 6-cores 12-threads setup, the Core i7-10710U is the first Intel Core U-series mobile processor to come with more than 4-cores and 8-threads. At the same time, all Comet Lake U-series processors are able to support higher DDR4 clock speed than their predecessors, at up to 2666 MHz. Similarly, the Comet Lake Y-series processors also able to support a higher LPDDR3 clock speed of up to 2133 MHz as opposed to Amber Lake’s 1866 MHz cap. Not forget, all eight chips also feature integrated Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) 802.11ax.
Performance-wise, Intel stated that these Comet Lake processors are able to deliver up to 16% more performance than their predecessors without affecting battery life. OEMs can also choose to tweak them further by taking advantage of the Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology which can help these processors gain additional performance of between 8% to 12%. In terms of availability, consumers everywhere can expect to see laptops and 2-in-1 featuring any of these new 10th Gen Intel Core processors during the year-end holiday season.
