The standard and Plus versions of the Galaxy S22 are shown to sport a design that almost looks no different than its predecessors, at least at first glance. The only major difference spotted on both models are their rear camera bumps, which still retains the same look as this year’s Samsung flagship series but now with a matching colour theme (similar to the also unannounced Galaxy S21 FE) and a seam dividing it from the body. Other than that, both devices share more or less the same sizes respectively, as well as featuring a flat display panel with a high screen-to-body ratio and a top-centred punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera. The Ultra variant, according to Hemmerstoffer’s renders, is shown to feature a different design from the standard and Plus versions of the Galaxy S22. Instead of being rounded, the corners on the high-end model are sharper – reminiscent of the design language that Samsung usually reserves for its Galaxy Note series. Complementing the look is a slightly curved 6.8-inch display with a punch-hole camera cutout. And the nod to the brand’s second flagship series doesn’t end with the design either. The renders show the alleged Galaxy S22 Ultra featuring an integrated S-pen as well, which is a first for the S-series. This could also mean that Samsung is discontinuing the Galaxy Note series after all, and would instead inherit its features exclusively on its next-generation and future Galaxy S Ultra models.
Then there’s the rear camera array on the Ultra variant, which might put off some fans. Rather than featuring the streamlined design as seen on the standard and Plus models, the high-end model of the flagship series is shown to sport a P-shaped bump for its quad-camera setup – with the bottom half of the shape housing what appears to be its periscope “Space Zoom” lens. However, there’s a possibility that the Ultra’s rear design suggested by Hemmerstoffer is inaccurate. Fellow leakster Ice Universe says that the phone’s camera array would appear differently – even providing a rough mock-up on how it might actually look like. On the other hand, OnLeaks admits that there is a chance that Samsung may change the design for the Ultra’s finalised version, but insists that his rendition is “accurate enough”. Despite the disagreement, “the cat” did claim that OnLeaks’ renders of the standard and Plus variants of the Galaxy S22 are accurate, based on the information provided by his own sources.
Ice Universe also allegedly detailed the Ultra’s cameras last week, suggesting that all four rear shooters would feature OIS (optical image stabilisation) and that both of its telephotos come with a new continuous zoom technology. Unfortunately, the complete specs for all three devices are still a mystery at this time. Although, it is very likely that the trio could feature the brand’s upcoming next-gen Exynos chipset with AMD RDNA 2 technology for processing and graphics acceleration.

Nevertheless, it will still be a while before Samsung would provide any details regarding its next-generation flagship smartphones, let alone announce them. On that note, it is likely that we’ll officially see and hear about the Galaxy S22 series once the new year arrives, with the month of January being the earliest.
