Early last week, video games leaker Tom Henderson claimed that the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 has been pushed back from 2023 to 2025. This report has since been corroborated by another video games news outlet VGC, as well as Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier. The latter did suggest before this that 2023 was a realistic time window, but that was before the pandemic hit.

For context, GTA 4 was released all the way back in 2008, five years before the current one. As it is, GTA V will have lasted a whole decade before it gets its sequel. But for what it’s worth, according to Henderson, GTA 6 will take place in a modern day setting. The infamous Vice City will be returning in some capacity, but maybe not the full map from the eponymous game. The map is also said to be an evolving one, which will change with DLC releases like Fortnite Seasons. This does mean that the greater focus is on its online component, but there will still be multiple playable characters in the singleplayer story.
