ORIGINAL STORY (11:57 AM): Back in May, HP had expanded its gaming lineup with several new laptops within the Omen Series. At the same time, the company has also unveiled a new gaming laptop series called Victus by HP which has been positioned as the “younger sibling” to Omen. The first product in the new series is called the Victus by HP 16 but for the sake of convenience, let’s just agree to call it the HP Victus 16. While it is rather odd that HP Malaysia has yet to publicly highlight the new release, we have discovered that the laptop has since quietly made its way into our market. While the Victus 16 has indeed appeared on HP Malaysia’s website, the laptop was not listed in its online shop. However, you are already able to purchase it through the brand’s official store on Shopee as well as dealers such as NB Plaza, Thundermatch, Viewnet, PC Image (this particular listing is posted by its Kota Kinabalu’s branch), and many more. For now, it seemed that the Victus 16 that has arrived in Malaysia are all powered by AMD Ryzen. From our research, there are three variants at the moment with all of them come standard with a Full HD 144Hz IPS panel on their 16.1-inch screen as well as 8GB of RAM and 512GB solid state drive.   Priced at RM3,899, the base model is equipped with Ryzen 5 5600H and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB graphics while one can also up the ante by choosing the GeForce RTX 3050 4GB graphics for RM4,199. The third variant in the list is equipped with Ryzen 7 5800H and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti 4GB graphics together with a price tag of RM4,799. Based on the price range, it seems that Victus is competing at the same level as HP’s existing entry-level gaming laptop series, the Pavilion Gaming. Hence, it may look as if Victus is taking over the mantle from Pavilion Gaming but there is no official directive from HP regarding that so far. UPDATE (11:20 PM):

We have visited HP Malaysia’s website once again tonight and were surprised to see that the company has since updated its catalogue to include all three variants of Ryzen-based Victus 16. Not only that, customers are also able to purchase them through the site. Interesting enough, HP Malaysia has also listed three other variants of Victus 16 which are powered by 11th Gen Intel Core chips:

Similar to their Ryzen-based counterparts, all of these Core-based Victus 16 come standard with a Full HD 144Hz IPS panel, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB solid state drive. They carry a slightly higher price tag too, as the base model with Intel Core i5-11260H and GeForce GTX 1650 goes for RM4,259 while the variant with Core i5-11400H and GeForce RTX 3050 is listed at RM4,559. On another hand, there’s also the model with Core i7-11800H and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti which is priced at RM5,199. Unlike the Victus 16 with Ryzen chips, none of these Core-based models is available for purchase at the moment though.
