The report came by way of Bloomberg, citing industry sources. They say the company Nintendo has previously raised its goal from the previous level to 25 million units this fiscal year in August. But despite the increased production, it was still not enough, and factories are operating at 120% capacity. And this is after the company having ironed out complications caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Nintendo has been struggling to keep up with demand for its Switch handheld console hybrid. Part of this is because of the breakout success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Another is, naturally, the COVID-19 pandemic keeping many people at home. The Lite model introduced last year also played a part in getting more people to pick up a Nintendo machine. It looks like despite being the least powerful of the gaming consoles this generation, the Nintendo Switch is still holding its ground well against the competition. And with an improved, 4K -capable version on the way, there may be another wave of new adopters the company picks up next year. (Source: Bloomberg)
