According to NVIDIA, the five vulnerabilities ranged between medium and high threat, and could possibly lead to issues such as local code execution, escalation of privileges, and denial of service on unsuspecting Windows-based PCs. As an example, if a GeForce-driven system was compromised by an attacker, the flaws would render the affected system vulnerable to malicious codes. To be clear, the flaws aren’t just limited to NVIDIA’s GeForce cards lineup. The vulnerabilities affect all NVIDIA graphics solutions across the board; that includes its Quadro, NVS, and Tesla lineup. On a more positive note, the flaws listed by NVIDIA – while still a threat – requires local access for the system to be exploited. In other words, unless there’s a villainous-looking individual within the immediate vicinity of your PC, your machine is safe.
