Said to be the industry’s first-ever 1/1.33-inch mobile image sensor, Samsung stated that the ISOCELL Bright HMX is able to absorb more lights than smaller sensors out there. At the same time, the company has also implemented its Tetracell pixel-merging technology into the sensor to allow it to produce brighter images at 27MP.

In a bright lighting condition, the sensor would rely on another technology called Smart-ISO which helps ISOCELL Bright HMX choose the best ISO settings for each output. Not to forget, the ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor is also able to support video recording at 6K resolution with a framerate of 30fps. Samsung has also revealed that the mass production of ISOCELL Bright HMX will start later this month. Hence, we believe that the sensor will be featured on at least one upcoming phone as early as next month and given the fact that the sensor was co-developed by Xiaomi, it is rather obvious which phone manufacturer get to adopt it first.
