The pen itself is called Starbucks Touch: The Pen and features a design that was inspired by drip coffee machines. Being an actual writing tool, it also has a “coffee brown” coloured ink that’s replaceable when it runs out.

Naturally, the built-in NFC reader inside the pen supports the FeliCa contactless system which is not only used by Starbucks Japan but pretty much throughout the country including its public transportation system. According to The Verge, The Pen is actually the fourth product within NFC-enabled Starbucks Touch line-up which previously has included a phone case, a flask, and a mini handbag. Available in black, silver, and white, the Starbucks Touch The Pen will be on sale starting from 25 September with a price tag of JPY 4000 (~RM154). Each pen also features pre-loaded credit of JPY 1000 yen (~RM38), so you can get your coffee fix immediately after you obtained it. (Source: Starbucks Japan via The Verge // Images: Starbucks Japan)
