That’s right, the name of the publisher’s military shooter of 2019 will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Sources to Kotaku tells that it’s a soft reboot of the first Modern Warfare, and is scheduled for release in fall.
As a soft reboot, it kind of explains why Activision chose to do without the number four in the game’s title. It’s along the lines of Sony doing away with the number in the fourth mainline God of War game. That said, it’s bound to create some confusion when it’s the inevitable time for a sequel. Kotaku also says that there will likely be more news about this next Call of Duty title next week. In a sense, there’s still hope that the publisher will decide on a different name by then.
