Based on the state of the cables, TM believed that the damages on them were due to vandalism. Given our lack of knowledge when it comes to network infrastructure, we not sure what really happened but it clearly didn’t look good from the pictures of the cables that TM has shared online:

— unifi (@unifi) November 28, 2018 Naturally, the company subsequently fixed the damages which apparently affects around 1000 unifi customers in Kajang. After almost 8 hours since the company released the alert regarding the incident to its customers through Twitter, TM acknowledged that the repair crews have completed their work and services have resumed as per normal. This is the fourth cable cut incidents that we’ve heard involving TM fibre cables within two weeks. In many ways, it is good to see that TM is now being more open to talk about damages that happened to their infrastructure rather than leaving customers in the dark but it also showed that these cables seemed to be quite vulnerable.
