Waze users from Malaysia will now be able to receive specific turn-by turn voice navigation and safety tips from the professional voiceover artist herself. She also throws in typical Malaysian utterance style such as “alamak, miss!” or “lubang lagi” when a driver approaches a pothole for an instance, to give navigation a more lighthearted mood. To find Dato Yasmin Yusuff’s voice-over directions, users will first have to tap on the Menu button and then go to Settings within the Waze app. Once you’ve done that, tap on Voice and Sound to find Waze Voice. Then, simply go on to select the “Bahasa Malaysia – Yasmin” option which will be present within the Waze app altogether.
Alternatively, users are also able to record their own voice and have it saved as a custom voice-over direction on Waze. To do so, tap on the Menu button and go to Settings. Then, tap on Voice and Sound to find Waze Voice. Following this, tap Record New Voice and choose your direction of record. Upon succession of voice record, tap Done to rename voice and Add to finalise the process. Though this isn’t a new feature. In fact, it’s one that has been around since 2017.
