The new QR code functionality allows users to quickly add new contacts by scanning a provided code, rather than having to key in their phone number. As a security measure, WhatsApp also added the ability for users to revoke their QR code to avoid it from being misused for whatever reasons. Video calls on the platform can now fit in a maximum number of eight participants per session. As demonstrated in the beta prior to this, initiating it involves making the call from an existing group that has eight members or less. A new group call button will be made available for you to create a session, and you’ll also be able to select which member to add in if you’re not planning to make a group-wide video call. Animated stickers are pretty much similar to WhatsApp’s current stickers, but with simple animations added to them for an extra bit of fun. Additionally, other updates announced by the platform include Dark Mode for WhatsApp desktop and web clients, and the inclusion of the Stories-like status feature for KaiOS users.

These new updates will be rolling out to all users in the coming weeks, according to the official WhatsApp blog. Be sure to check back on your app by then if you wish to see if the changes have been applied. (Source: WhatsApp)
